Rapid Response Unit Deployed to Road Traffic Oil Spill

Leading environmental remediation contractors MEL (UK) LTD deployed their rapid response unit to a road traffic incident on the M180 near Junction 1 on the 8th March 2010.

A collision between two articulated lorries resulted in 500 litres of diesel being spilt on the motorway and close to a field drain.

Working closely with the EA and the Highways Agency MEL (UK) LTD attended the site within 45 minutes and the hazard was contained and remediated within 4 hours.

An MEL spokesman commented " with our fleet strategically placed within the motorway corridor and our pragmatic approach we were the natural choice for the insurance company concerned"
