Gasworks and Oil Storage Facility, Wandsworth

The site was to be redeveloped for luxury riverside apartments with associated retail and leisure facilities.
The underlying groundwater was grossly impacted with over 1000mm of heavy free phase hydrocarbons.
In order to meet the development program the remedial system was integrated into the permanent works and continually operated throughout the construction period and for a further two years beyond the building completion.
The remedial system was monitored and operated remotely using a telemetry system linked by a GSM internet connection to MEL’s offices so as to minimise any disturbance to the residents.
