Former Landfill Site, Colchester

This 8ha site housed a former clay products manufacturing facility. Waste material from the processes were bagged and dumped on site in a licensed landfill together with various other materials of an unknown origin, including some hydrocarbons and asbestos contaminated materials.
The proposed removal of the 23,000m3 of materials from site rendered the development scheme uneconomic.
By using a systematic sort and segregation approach with on site analytical techniques the volume of material removed from site was reduced to 4,000m3 thus effecting significant savings to the client.
