Domestic Heating Oil Spill, Newton, Preston

The adjacent property suffered a substantial loss of fuel from the external tank. The fuel seeped down to the near surface water table and migrated onto the neighbours land contaminating a significant portion of the neighbours property.
To minimise further impact whilst the source of the contamination was being removed, a hydraulic cut off system comprising a collection trench and automated pumping system was installed along the site boundary.
The extracted water was treated using one of MEL’s proprietary water treatment systems. These systems have been specifically designed for use on residential properties. Once the source contamination was removed at the adjoining property the contaminated soil was excavated and disposed and the groundwater treated in situ.
