Domestic Heating Oil Spill, Wath, South Yorkshire
During building works at this rural property the contractors damaged the fuel feed pipe. The incident wasn't reported and over a period of time vapours were noticed within the property alerting the residents to the problem.
Detailed investigation works identified the cause of the problem and the lateral and vertical extent of the impact. Where possible the grossly impacted soils were removed and replaced with imported materials. In other areas in situ biological and chemical treatment techniques were used to remediate the property.
