Domestic Heating Oil Spill, Coalville, Leicestershire
During heavy winds the boundary wall collapsed pushing the adjacent oil tank over. The tank split spilling the fuel across the neighbours garden and decked area.
The site was cleared of all debris and made safe, the contaminated decking was dismantled and disposed off site. A temporary fuel tank was provided and the boiler recommissioned to ensure the residents had heating.
The contaminated soils were excavated and removed from site, on site analysis being used to determine the extent of the dig. On completion, samples of the base and sides were taken and submitted to an independent laboratory. On completion the garden and decking were reinstated to the satisfaction of the residents and the wall rebuilt.
