Fuel Storage Facility, Newcastle

This 29ha site, located in the Northeast, had been used for the bulk storage and distribution of fuels and oils over 25 years.
68,000m3 of soils and hard standing had been identified for excavation, sorting, segregation and treatment/off site disposal.
On site testing techniques identified 17,000m3 requiring ex situ biological treatment in order that the retention criteria could be met. This was effected within a 6 month period.
The remaining materials were proved to be below the retention criteria and were reused within the works.
